WAV to Text
Convert uncompressed WAV audio into a readable, timestamped transcript.
First use downloads the speech model. Longer recordings take more time.
Good to know
What is the quickest way to start?
Choose an audio or video file, or open Record to use your microphone. Select the spoken language or automatic detection, then review the transcript before saving.
Why does the first run take longer?
The browser may need to download the speech engine and model. Download progress is shown separately from transcription. Processing time depends on the recording, your device and available browser acceleration.
Which audio and video files will work?
The recording must contain an audio track your browser can decode. Common MP3, WAV, M4A and MP4 files often work, but support also depends on the codec inside the file. If a file cannot be opened, try exporting its audio as WAV or MP3.
Can I save subtitles and edit mistakes?
Yes. Review and edit the transcript, then choose text or a subtitle format such as SRT or VTT. Names, background noise and overlapping speakers often need corrections.
What if a long recording fails?
The audio is decoded into browser memory before transcription. A large file can exceed the memory available on your device. Try a shorter excerpt and keep the page open while it works.
